His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received at the Patriarchal headquarters Monsignor Dr. Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, former Personal Secretary of His Holiness Pope Francis, and President of the Human Fraternity Foundation. Monsignor Gaid conveyed to His Holiness his deepest condolences for the victims of the Imbaba accident and affirmed the closeness of His Holiness Pope Francis and his prayers for the victims and their families and for the recovery of the injured.
The meeting also dealt with talking about the Humanitarian Fraternity Foundation for services and charitable projects that it seeks to achieve in Egypt, especially the Oasis of Mercy project for orphans and the Bambino Gesù Hospital for Maternity and Childhood project, which the Foundation is working to build in the New Administrative Capital in cooperation with the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, which is one of the most important Scientific research centers specialized in the treatment of rare diseases and organ transplantation in the world.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros blessed these efforts aimed at supporting and helping the poor, the needy and the sick, and affirming Egypt's position in the heart of the world.
These projects are the best reflection of the special relationship and special status that His Holiness Pope Francis holds for Egypt, and for His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the leader of the modern renaissance and founder of the New Republic.
It is worth noting that the Human Fraternity Foundation is based on the Human Fraternity Document signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al Azhar - Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2019.
Monsignor Gaid dedicate to His Holiness Pope Tawadros the medal of the Bambino Gesù Association. His Holiness also gifted to Father Yoannis, the icon of the Holy Family's journey to Egypt.
