A solemn ceremony for the arrival of the statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis in Latina

Posted on 2021-05-19

it was a solemn ceremony prepared by Don Gianni Toni, parish priest of Santa Domitilla, to welcome the statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis in Latina with the participation of a large number of faithful, in respecting of the necessary prescriptions of the pandemic COVID-19. The statue arrived at the parish churchyard accompanied by the police of Latina and the event was broadcast live on four television channels.

The celebration began with the performance of the Cori flag-wavers. Following the intervention of Mons. Yoannis Lahzi GAID, President of the Bambino Gesù Association, Mrs. Antonia Salzano, Mother of the Blessed, gave her testimony, in the presence of His Excellency Mons. Mariano Crociata, Bishop of Latina, of Dr. Pierluigi Faloni, Prefect of the Republic, the family of the Blessed Acutis and numerous parishioners.

Father Yoannis said that "in the darkness of the Pandemic we all need to see some light; to recognize positive signs; to see that our humanity is still alive; that there are people who continue to think, not just about themselves. themselves but to those who are alone, to those who are suffering from both the pandemic and abandonment, poverty, loneliness ...

The pandemic in showing us our fragility has also revealed to us how much we are united, united, linked, connected: "a child who gets sick in the farthest country on earth makes the whole planet sick".

It is therefore not allowed to think or act as separate individuals, it is not allowed to say: “I don't care about others”, because your life depends on mine and mine depends on yours, the life of all of us is interconnected. We are "All Brothers" as the Holy Father teaches us in his latest encyclical.

The "Oasi della Pietà" orphanage project (where the statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis will be placed) represents a small candle that gives us a little hope, a flower that grows in the Cairo desert, an "Oasis" of fraternity , of solidarity, of warmth, of healing, of a smile, of human, professional and spiritual growth.

This project aims to ensure a dignified residence for orphaned children, to develop their physical, psychological, linguistic and social skills and to offer them the necessary care and adequate training to pour the oil of charity on their wounds. Thus they too will become good Samaritans towards anyone in similar situations.

We have chosen the figure of Blessed Carlo Acutis because he too gives us the certainty that a little one can change the lives of many people. He gives us hope. He teaches us that holiness is not a club reserved for the few. He gives us the certainty that good (despite being silent) is still strong in the souls of so many boys and girls who choose Christ, the Eucharist, the Sacraments and operational charity.

Carlo leads us to question the authenticity of our faith.

The statue of him - blessed by the Holy Father - will inflame the hearts of the children who will be welcomed in the orphanage and will accompany their growth ...

His example will lead many others to follow Christ, the true light of humanity.

His presence will encourage shy hearts to understand that the only thing that warms our existence is love given and received freely".

Mrs. Antonia Salzano, mother of Blessed Carlo Acutis he expressed the bond of her son with Egypt and with the Coptic Church, as well as the desire that the Blessed Acutis, during his short earthly life, expressed to visit the Egypt. She also spoke about the bond that Blessed Charles Acutis had with the Sacraments, in particular with the Eucharist, and how he transformed his faith in Christ into love and service to the poor and needy people. She also explained how he drew strength, grace, and the daily sustenance of his life from the Bible. She also mentioned many phrases that the Blessed pronounced, such as:

1. Our goal must be the infinite and not the finite. The Infinity is our homeland. We are always expected in Heaven.

All people are born as originals but many die as photocopies.

Sadness is looking at ourselves, happiness is looking towards God.

To be always united with Jesus, this is my plan of life.

Do not be afraid because with the Incarnation of Jesus, death becomes life, and there’s no need to escape: in eternal life, something extraordinary awaits us.

What does it matter if you can win a thousand battles if you cannot win against your own corrupt passions? It doesn’t matter. The real battle is with ourselves.

Not me, but God.

The Eucharist is the highway to heaven.

The more Eucharist we receive, the more we will become like Jesus, so that on earth we will have a foretaste of heaven.

By standing before the Eucharistic Christ, we become holy.

When we face the sun we get a tan… but when we stand before Jesus in the Eucharist we become saints.

The Virgin Mary is the only woman in my life.

The only thing we have to ask God for, in prayer, is the desire to be holy.

I offer all the suffering I will have to suffer for the Lord, for the Pope, and the Church.

There are people who suffer much more than me.

The celebration ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by His Excellency Mons. Mariano Crociata, Bishop of Latina, who emphasized in his homily the importance of the example of Blessed Carlo Acutis in our contemporary life, especially in the life of young people of today, and how God was glorified in his short but rich life.
